It began with a problem
In 2010, one of the nation’s largest healthcare payers needed help managing increasingly complex data from multiple sources. They were not looking for another technology platform.
They needed healthcare data experts who understood the operational work behind trusted data.
Our founder, Jonathan Kaye, assembled the team that built the foundation for Health Data Innovations. More than 16 years later, members of that original team still support our first client.

The people behind the HDI Data Management Model
The HDI Data Management Model isn’t maintained by software. It’s maintained by people who care deeply about getting healthcare data right. These are the people you’ll know by name.
Jonathan Kaye is HDI's founder and executive chairman. He has spent more than 30 years building tools to solve healthcare's data usability challenges. He founded Health Data Management Solutions, which grew into a significant force in analytic tools before its sale to ActiveHealth Management, later acquired by Aetna. At HDI, Jonathan shares his expertise in database design, data scrubbing, and analytics. Clients benefit from his understanding of data-flow management and efficient use of data to support healthcare operations.
Rob Pinataro joined HDI as CEO in 2026 to help its unique team of experts drive the company's next phase of growth. He brings a strategic mindset and an execution habit built over 25+ years leading SaaS and technology-enabled services businesses. His days are spent with customers and staff, translating strategy into actionable projects and bringing in resources that accelerate execution. He measures success two ways: team members growing their careers, and clients achieving their business objectives.
Bonnie Bisol Cassidy, HDI’s Chief Operating Officer, is the person who knows how everything connects and makes sure nothing falls through the cracks. She has been instrumental in growing the company and continues to shape how HDI operates and how clients are supported. Today she also focuses on partnership development as HDI explores new markets. With 25 years in claims analytics, payment system design, and data warehousing, she brings context that's hard to replicate.
Maher is Chief Technology Officer at Health Data Innovations, where he oversees the infrastructure, protocols, and procedures that keep HDI's healthcare data secure as HDI tracks, manages, and processes it - data that's grown toward a petabyte over the years. With nearly 30 years in IT and two decades in healthcare, he led HDI to become an early adopter of Hitrust certification. His instinct for where the industry is heading keeps HDI's privacy and security practices ahead of evolving requirements.
Rytas Vygantas, HDI's Chief Financial and Corporate Development Officer, helps decide where the company invests, which partnerships it pursues, and how it grows while keeping client value and data reliability in view. He brings more than 20 years working across healthcare IT and strategic finance, plus the perspective of an investor, board member, and operator. Before joining HDI, he helped lead Hughes & Company's 2023 investment in the business, giving him firsthand knowledge of its opportunities and tradeoffs.
Susan Tournie is VP of Sales at Health Data Innovations, where her work is equal parts education and discovery—she guides prospective healthcare organizations through a detailed process that helps them clarify what they need and see exactly where HDI fits. With 25 years in the industry, she's learned that organizations often can't articulate what's missing until the right questions get asked. What she hears in those conversations also shapes how HDI tracks performance and refines its approach.
As VP of Data Engineering, Syuzanna Zakharova leads data operations and development at HDI, writing and refining the SAS programs that turn tangled payer claims data into analytically ready datasets. With 25+ years in healthcare analytics, she is the one who untangles the messy datasets others can’t, building the standardization and validation processes that let HDI move large file volumes fast without giving up data quality. She also trains the analysts and developers who keep it running.
Lynne works with HDI's provider clients to turn raw claims, eligibility, and attribution data into information that actually supports risk-based contracts. Day to day, she designs the SAS-driven processes that clean and structure incoming data, catching problems before they reach the analytics team. With 25+ years in claims data, she has a knack for asking the question that reframes a client's whole approach to a contract issue, pushing teams past reporting into real strategy.
Marty Porter, VP of Payer Market Services, turns messy healthcare data – claims, pharmacy, lab, employer feeds – into information payers can actually use. Thirty-plus years working with claims data means he spots what others miss and knows where the traps are. When a client hits an unfamiliar dataset, Marty's usually the one who takes it apart and builds the process that makes it repeatable – turning "we don't know what to do with this" into a working system.
As VP of Platform Engineering, Adnan turns the data challenges our analysts and account managers run into every day into working software. He built and still maintains Automatix™, HDI's proprietary data management platform, which lets the whole team work at scale instead of getting stuck on repetitive integration problems. With more than 25 years in coding and healthcare data, he's never met a repetitive task, however complex, that he couldn't simplify and automate.
